The art of being here

Where the stones still speak.

Not the loudest place in Istria. Perhaps that is precisely the point.

A table for a community

Under the shade of a hackberry tree stands the old županski stol, the round stone table at which local representatives once met. Look for the remains of the public loggia and imagine the civic life of this small frontier settlement.

A bell tower with character

The late-Baroque parish church of Saints Simeon and Jude Thaddeus dates from the eighteenth century. Its freestanding, 28-metre bell tower was built in 1762 and gives Tinjan a skyline all its own.

The beauty of small discoveries

Keep an eye out for the Depiera house, with architectural details dating to 1670, and the little Holy Cross chapel on the road towards Poreč. Here, history is not behind museum glass; it forms part of the walk.

An invitation to slow down

Spring walks, long summer evenings, an autumn harvest and the stillness of winter. Tinjan belongs to more than one moment of the year.
